Familiarizing With the Basics of Bingo

Bingo is a game played on a card with twenty-five squares on a grid. The boxes are arranged with five boxes across by five boxes down. Bingo is popular all over the world. The rules are quite the same in the United States and Canada. However, in Australia and the United Kingdom, their version of bingo is slightly different and the game is known as "housie."

The object of the game is to form the required pattern by marking the numbers on the card. The numbers are being drawn from a container which has the balls numbered from one to seventy-five. As each number is drawn, the player has to mark the number on the card. When a player forms the required pattern, the word "bingo" must be called out to let the other players, as well as the caller, know that you have the winning pattern.

After you have called out "bingo," your card will be checked to determine if all the numbers marked were drawn. If your win is valid, you will be awarded the prize and another game has to be started.

While no player has called out "bingo," the game continues until someone has formed the required pattern.

Some bingo games require only one pattern to be formed. There are times that the players must have all the boxes on the grid marked before they win the game. This bingo pattern is known as cover-all or blackout. There are other common patterns used in bingo. One of these patterns is the one line, which requires you to mark an entire line of five boxes. The line may be vertical, horizontal or even diagonal. Another popular pattern is the four corners, where you should mark the corner numbers of the card.

Some bingo games have different winning patterns allowed in the game. Each pattern has a corresponding amount of prize. It is best if you have the pattern that has most numbers marked because that usually has the jackpot prize.

Bingo is very popular to people of all ages. This is because the game is very easy to learn. All you have to do is just be familiar with the winning patterns and develop skills in marking the numbers on a bingo card.

You have to be quick in searching for and marking the numbers in order not to miss the number on a card. Failing to mark a number reduces your chances of winning in bingo.
